Service rules / Authorized research

Terms of Service

Plain-language rules for using Discover Profile, interpreting public-source results, and working responsibly with third-party data.

Last updated: September 1, 2026

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the website or its research workflows.

01. Agreement and eligibility

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) form an agreement between you and the operator of Discover Profile concerning access to discoverprofile.tools, its public pages, browser-based research workflows, optional Google connection, and search-history features (the “Service”). Our Privacy Policy separately explains how information is handled.

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter this agreement. If you use the Service for an organization, you represent that you are authorized to accept these Terms on its behalf. You may not use the Service where access is prohibited by applicable law, contractual restriction, sanction, or binding order.

02. What the Service provides

Username research

Checks one username through 2,518 configured public-site checks in 17 API categories, then presents possible profile signals alongside the complete set of returned site statuses. Up to four category lanes may run concurrently, while pages within a category are requested sequentially.

Email research

Checks one validated email address across 168 configured account services in 20 categories. Responses may include registered, not registered, unknown, or error states. Many checks use account-recovery behavior and may not expose a username, account ID, or profile URL.

History

In standard mode, positive username and email results can be retained as browser- or account-linked search history. Privacy Mode skips application task and history creation for that scan, but does not stop the configured scan service from receiving the submitted query. Negative, unknown, and error rows remain part of the live response log rather than positive saved matches.

The current Service does not provide background checks, mailbox access, credential verification, private-account access, or permission to enter any restricted system.

03. Results are leads, not proof

  • A username match does not prove that two accounts belong to the same person.
  • A shared username, avatar, display name, biography, or writing style is not sufficient by itself to establish identity.
  • An email-related account signal does not prove that an address is active or controlled by a particular person.
  • The absence of a result does not prove that an account, record, or public reference does not exist.
  • Third-party account data can be stale, incomplete, duplicated, misclassified, or wrong.

Open original sources, check dates and context, compare independent evidence, and record uncertainty before relying on a material finding.

The Search Methodology explains how the current workflows classify returned rows, surface possible matches, and preserve negative, unknown, and error states for review.

04. Authorized use

You may use the Service only for a lawful, legitimate purpose and within a scope you are authorized to investigate. Appropriate uses can include self-auditing, defensive security, approved investigations, brand monitoring, fraud awareness, journalism, academic research, and review of an organization's own public exposure.

Whether a particular activity is permitted depends on the facts, the authorization you hold, applicable law, professional obligations, and the rules of each source. Use only the inputs and sources necessary for your research question, minimize collection of personal data, and stop when the authorized task is complete.

05. Prohibited use

Do not use the Service to:

  • harass, stalk, threaten, dox, intimidate, discriminate against, or facilitate harm to another person;
  • commit fraud, impersonate a person or organization, phish for credentials, extort, or distribute malware;
  • access or attempt to access a private account, mailbox, device, network, or restricted system;
  • conduct unlawful surveillance, profiling, background screening, or monitoring;
  • use an unverified result as the sole basis for employment, housing, credit, insurance, legal, safety, or another high-impact decision;
  • overload the Service, run unsupported automated collection, bypass rate limits, defeat request controls, or interfere with security measures;
  • submit identifiers or content in violation of law, contract, court order, confidentiality, or another person's rights; or
  • present a generated lead or provider response as a verified fact.

We may limit or block activity that appears abusive, unsafe, automated beyond intended use, or inconsistent with these Terms.

06. Public sources and providers

The research workflows rely on configured scan API endpoints and the public account services represented in their category responses. A submitted username or email address and the selected category are sent to an endpoint to perform the requested check. Where more than one endpoint is configured, the browser selects an endpoint by the configured weights for each request. Different category or pagination requests may therefore use different endpoints that are expected to provide the same interface.

Google OAuth supports optional account connection; Google Analytics measures audience activity; Google Fonts provides typography; and Google's favicon service may receive a returned site's origin to display an icon beside that result. These services operate under their own terms and policies.

External sources can be unavailable, rate-limited, blocked by geography, protected by CAPTCHA, restricted by account state, changed, or removed without notice. Their content, availability, policies, and accuracy are outside our control. A failed or missing response does not necessarily mean the underlying account, record, or service does not exist.

The current username and email interface does not add Worker-based site batches, indexed web-search results, AI-generated leads, or AI summaries. Progress and results shown in the workspace come from the configured /api/scan category requests.

07. User inputs, accounts, and history

You are responsible for having an appropriate basis and any required permission to submit a username, email address, or support correspondence. The Service cannot determine whether you hold that authority.

When you submit the contact form, the Service stores the optional name, reply email, selected category, message, review status, reference number, and timestamps needed to receive and manage the request. Do not use the form to send credentials, private mailbox contents, or unrelated sensitive information.

Do not submit passwords, authentication codes, API keys, private mailbox contents, payment details, health information, government identifiers, or other sensitive data the selected workflow does not need. You are responsible for how you preserve, share, and act on output you obtain.

The site assigns a first-party browser identifier. When a username or email task starts in standard mode, a user and search-history record may be created even without Google login. Privacy Mode skips those task and history requests for that scan. Optional Google OAuth uses returned basic profile information to associate the website account; the Service does not receive the password entered with Google.

Anyone with access to your device or browser profile may be able to view its linked history. Logging out clears the current browser identifier cookie; it does not by itself delete stored account or history records.

You may permanently delete an individual history task from the history interface. You may also permanently delete the current application user record and all search-history rows linked to it from the user workspace. These actions cannot be reversed through the Service and do not establish when provider copies, infrastructure logs, or backups outside the active application database are erased.

08. Availability, changes, and accuracy

A workflow may time out, show partial results, return unknown or error states, or become unavailable because of maintenance, network conditions, source blocking, API changes, rate limits, geographic restrictions, or abuse-prevention controls.

We may change, limit, suspend, or discontinue workflows, source coverage, categories, interfaces, account features, or third-party integrations. We do not guarantee that every public account will be found, every returned match is correct, every provider remains available, or every scan is complete.

You remain responsible for checking original evidence, choosing a proportionate conclusion, complying with rules that apply to your work, and deciding whether qualified professional advice is needed.

09. Content, licenses, and third-party rights

Rights in the site-specific interface, original copy, graphics, research materials, and original software components remain with their respective rights holders to the extent those elements are original. Normal access to the website does not grant permission to republish original material as your own.

Bundled data, ThinkPHP, libraries, and other open-source components remain subject to their own license and attribution notices. Public profiles, search results, provider responses, third-party datasets, external articles, logos, names, and trademarks belong to their respective rights holders. Displaying or linking to them does not transfer ownership or imply endorsement.

10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, complete, accurate, or suitable for a particular purpose.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Discover Profile and its operator, providers, and contributors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, opportunity, goodwill, or data, arising from or related to the Service, third-party content, or a decision based on unverified output.

To the extent permitted by law, aggregate liability for claims relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid for the Service during the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim. Where a limitation cannot lawfully apply, liability is limited only to the extent permitted.

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend and hold harmless the Service operator, providers, and contributors from claims, losses, and reasonable costs arising from your misuse of the Service, violation of these Terms, or infringement of another person's rights.

11. Suspension, disputes, and general terms

We may suspend or terminate access when we reasonably believe these Terms have been violated, activity creates risk, or action is required by law or a service provider. You may stop using the Service at any time. Provisions that by their nature should continue—including ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, and dispute terms—survive termination.

Before filing a formal claim, both parties should attempt in good faith to resolve the issue through written notice and reasonable discussion. These Terms are governed by the law applicable to the operator, without overriding mandatory protections that apply to you.

If a provision is unenforceable, it will be adjusted only as necessary and the remainder will continue. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. These Terms and the Privacy Policy form the agreement concerning the Service.

12. Privacy, updates, and contact

The Privacy Policy explains research inputs, identifiers, account data, history, analytics, cookies, providers, retention, and available requests.

These Terms may be updated when the Service, its providers, or its operating rules change. The date at the top records the latest published revision. If you do not agree with an updated version, stop using the Service.

Questions, reports of misuse, security notices, copyright concerns, and legal notices may be sent to [email protected]. Do not include unnecessary personal data, credentials, or secrets.
